2012 Ski Swap Begins

EUGENE, Ore. — Want to get a deal on some new or next-to-new ski equipment?

Friday’s your chance when the annual Ski Swap starts at the Lane County Fairgrounds.

Through Friday afternoon, local ski patrolers are collecting gear for consignment. Twenty percent of the money from sales goes to the Santiam Pass, Backcountry and award-winning Willamette Pass ski patrols.

“We’ve spent the morning setting up all the racks and making a store out of the expo hall, and tomorrow night this will be filled with thousands of people trying to get a deal on ski and snowbaording gear,” said Buz Mattson, Ski Swap Manager.

It costs about $25,000 to run each patrol every year, and this event helps them raise most of their money.
