EUGENE, Ore. — It’s that time of year again — time to crown Eugene’s new S.L.U.G. Queen! The Society for the Legitimization of the Ubiquitous Gastropod is hosting its 30th annual S.L.U.G. Queen competition and coronation Friday evening.
So who is the S.L.U.G. Queen? Well…she’s a “beauty” queen who reigns over the Eugene Celebration and its parade. It’s not your typical beauty pageant, however. The competition’s judges not only accept bribes — they openly encourage them.
The competition gets underway at 6:30 Friday night at the Saturday Market stage at the park blocks on 8th and Oak.
