Organizers say four different non-profits were present today, all sharing a hobby for model trains. Shoppers stopped to admire the many different trains on the tracks and while the event brought smiles to many faces, the president of one of the organizations says the goal is also to educate people on train safety as well.
“We think it’s important, again, as a non-profit, it’s a part of our educational component. While people like trains, people also like to go out and see trains and they need to be safe,” said Lee Temple, president of the Willamette Cascade Model Railroad Club.
Sunday is the last day for the event.
