4J Common School Schedule Disputed

EUGENE, Ore. — The implementation of a common school schedule was a hot topic at the 4J School Board meeting Wednesday night.

After listening to a lengthy number of public comments, the board decided to delay the switch to the common schedule at Kelly and Roosevelt middle schools. It will give faculty another year to arrange the programs to fit the needs of the schools.

The district was planning to make the move next school year, but a number of parents and teachers voiced opposition. Several teachers also spoke out about the common schedule at the high school level.

Administrators say the system isn’t perfect, but they are problem solving to ease concerns.
