$5.5M Needed for Civic Stadium

EUGENE, Ore. — More efforts are being made to put Civic Stadium back to use.

Civic Stadium is one of the few remaining wooden baseball parks in the country.

The City of Eugene says it is willing to put up park bond money on the contingency that other partners will come up with an additional $5.5 million. Mayor Kitty Piercy addressed a city council work session about this Wednesday.

“For many people in our community this has a place that has historic value to them, and so that’s why I’m saying I hear you, I’d like to [renovate and preserve Civic Stadium] too only if other partners step up and help bear the cost of this because we can’t afford it as a city,” said Kitty Piercy, Eugene Mayor.

The additional funds will be needed for renovation and upkeep.

ok am I totally off base or what when did our school system become land barons? I have no clue why the schools keep asking for more money and more money when they have a multi million dollar property sitting there that should be sold to the highest offer.

stop using our tax money on land speculation if the land isn’t in use by the school district and its students then it needs sold 4J is not a reality company or a land investment group its a damn school do your job what we pay you to do and sell the extra land and hire more teachers instead of begging for more and more money all the time
