EUGENE, Ore. — Back in 2008, the biggest event to hit town was the Olympic Trials.
With the track world beating a path to our door, local business owners geared up for record crowds.
But, for some, business was anything but record-breaking.
Take the Studio One Cafe, just down the street from Hayward Field.
Owner Chris Hogle became a foodie field marshal for the trials, adding staff, beefing up the menu, and laying out a strategy for dealing with customers lined up outside the door.
Hogle is still in business, even in this tough economy, but the dinner menu he added for the trials was dropped after two months.
He says Studio One has always been known as a breakfast place, and his customers would rather chow down on french toast than foie gras.
