EUGENE, Ore. — In 1986, the city of Eugene celebrated its past with an event called Historic Preservation Week.
And in honor of that, KEZI 9 News took a long look at Eugene’s past.
One of the revelations was just how much the city had lost to the urban renewal craze of the 70s.
At the time, downtown still boasted the controversial mall with its iconic fountain.
In that year, there was a lot to be proud of, but there was also a lot to lament.
