A New Home for Veterans

EUGENE, Ore. — A new home for a veteran returning from overseas is almost complete.

The house was up on jacks Friday on 13th Avenue as volunteers prepare to move it to its new home on Jefferson Street.

The Veterans’ Housing Project is a collaborative effort of private, public and non-profit organizations including the city of Eugene, EWEB, St. Vincent de Paul and the Home Builders Association of Lane County.

The goal is to help veterans transition back to civilian life with affordable housing.

“If we can work with them and support them on that front end as they come back into the community then they reintegrate and become extremely positive part of this community,” said Jon Ruiz, Veteran’s Housing Project Spokesman.

They hope to have the home moved and installed by the fall.
