AARP Offers Tax Assistance

EUGENE, Ore. — Free tax help attracted an early morning crowd at the Eugene Public Library.

It’s one of 10 locations in Lane County where trained AARP volunteers are assisting with tax returns.

Senior citizens as well as low and middle income residents can sign up for an appointment. It’s first come first, first serve.

“We had about 40 people lined up. So it wasn’t quite as busy as last year, but it’s expected almost every day we have 20 or 30 people lined up here,” said volunteer Len Lewandowski.

Volunteers at the library site helped over 900 people files taxes last year. They’ll be available on Thursdays and Fridays through April 15.

why do you only have walk-in sign ups? do you not know that a person could have to
drive to the site, go home, drive back again, all wasting gas witch is not cheap. why not
have a phone-in so we do not waste money on gas????????
