EUGENE, Ore. — Police responded to a fire burning an abandoned trailer near Highway 99 in Eugene Monday night.
Multiple engines and a truck from Eugene-Springfield Fire showed up to the scene, but only three engines were needed to quickly put the flames out. The initial call came in just after 11 p.m. Monday. Neighbors said they were worried the fire would spread to the building and nearby vehicles.
“I saw the trailer on fire, completely up in flames. There was a flame that almost hit the boat behind it. So my boyfriend yelled at the firefighters to go put that out because that was more important than the trailer,” says Tanya Killgore, a neighbor.
The cause hasn’t been identified yet, but they’re not calling the fire marshal because the structure was deemed invaluable.
