Agriculture Burn in Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Ore. — KEZI 9 News received many calls in the newsroom Thursday about smoke filling the air and wanted to clarify that it wasn’t a wildfire. Instead it was an agricultural burn.

“We just wanted the public to know what was going on, we received lots of phone calls about it though, maybe in the future we will get it out a little bit sooner, but we just wanted the public to know what was going on out in the area,” said Cpt. Chris Anderson, Santa Clara Fire.

Right now, agricultural burns are permitted within county limits. Backyard burns came to an early-season end.

The warm, dry weather that has been around through the last week is raising the risk of fires in Oregon.
