The city’s highest point, Spencer Butte crowns the Ridgeline at 2,065 feet in elevation, and is host to rocky outcrop and rare herbaceous bald plant communities. The Obsidians help maintain the hiking and running trails at Spencer Butte with a monthly work party, and more volunteers are needed to care for Eugene’s unique Emerald necklace at the Fox Hollow trailhead on February 23. To participate in this event, sign up using the Obsidians’ Online Sign-Up System: http://www.obsidians.org/onlinesignup/index.htm or email email@example.com. Parking is available at the Fox Hollow trailhead, located on Willamette Street, south of 52nd Avenue. For more information, contact Eugene Park Stewards South Region Volunteer Coordinator, Carrie Karl at 541-682-4850 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
