ALBANY, Ore. — Albany Police and Fire came to the rescue of two residents stuck in their burning apartment building Saturday night.

One of the trapped residents called 9-1-1 around 11 p.m. and said their apartment was on fire and they couldn’t get out.

Before fire crews arrived, a police officer was able to rescue one occupant from the ground floor. Firefighters had to rescue the second victim.

Albany Fire says the entire building suffered significant smoke damage and displaced residents for the night.
