SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Police say an alleged drunk driver crashed into the fire station at 28th and Centennial Wednesday night causing extensive damage.

Police say 29-year-old Shanda Cline was speeding on Centennial, just before 11:30, when she lost control of her car.

Cline reportedly smashed into a dumpster then went through a fence and ended up damaging two fire department equipment trailers.

Police say Cline claimed someone else had been driving, but later confessed she was behind the wheel.

Cline was sent to the hospital with minor injuries, and then booked in the Lane County jail on intoxicated driving, hit-and-run driving and obstructing governmental administration.

Sgt. Rich Charboneau explained the additional charge for obstruction, “We used other officers to try to find the person she said was driving, which was a male. So that was part of the reason for the obstructing, was that fact that we spent time instead of using those resources someplace else.”
