Medical Group Hosts Health Fair

EUGENE, Ore. — More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and health experts say it affects both patients and their families.

This weekend the River Road Medical Group will host a health fair so people can learn more about the disease. The Alzheimer’s Association says the disease is the second largest contributor to death in older Americans.

The River Road Medical Group works with Alzheimer’s patients and their families. It says it’s important to address the issue.

“The population’s getting older and older, and they’re more patients out there and it’s a burden. It’s a safety issue and someone needs to be there to arrange care for them because it’s not going away,” said Tammy Bryant, Registered Nurse Patient Care Coordinator.

Saturday’s event is for the whole family. There will be activities like face painting for kids and doctors on hand to give free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings.
