American Legion Commander Visits Eugene

1-11 american legionEUGENE, Ore. — The National Commander of the American Legion was in Eugene Saturday afternoon talking about veteran health care benefits.

Dan Dellinger along with some local American Legion leaders took a tour of the VA Clinic on River Avenue.

He said a main priority right now is to rally for veteran benefits. In the 2013 budget, veteran benefits were cut back. The American Legion is working to restore benefits for those who’ve served in the military.

“That’s why we’re so concerned because someone who put the uniform on to defend this great country, they were promised they would be taken care of, and now the government’s breaking that promise,” said Dellinger.

After touring the VA clinic, he headed over to the local American Legion hall to meet with area veterans.
