Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton‘s Friday Night Forecast Discussion:
**Wildfire information: Oregon Wildfires ***
Some strong to severe thunderstorms rolled through the valley this afternoon and evening. In fact, hundreds, if not thousands of lightning strikes were seen through much of the Lane County Cascades as seen on the picture to the right here:
For the rest of the night, clouds and some isolated sprinkles may fall, otherwise, keep your fingers crossed for clearer skies as the Perseids meteor shower will be in full bloom late tonight. We’ll stay muggy and mild overnight with lows in the mid to upper 50s.
By the weekend, Saturday in particular will see a mix of clouds and sun with thunderstorms again firing up in the mountains, some iso. showers falling late evening in the valley through Sunday. While the mountains will see more thunderstorms Sunday and Monday, the coast and inland valleys should get back to sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s.
Have a great weekend!
