Are Fair Games Fair?

video preview image

EUGENE, Ore. — Part of county fair fun is scoring one of those big stuffed animals, but it might be harder than you think.

At a couple of the games on the midway, you’re guaranteed a prize every time. Others are very challenging and have specific ways of making it more difficult for you to win.

Take for instance the basketball shoot. It’s known for not being regulation size, but there’s a sign right out front letting you know that.

At the milk pyramid, staffers admit, weighs more on the bottom, but if it were easy they say then everybody would win.

The star shoot–some say has different size BBs than normal ammo. Staffers say no, but it shoots in rounds of three as opposed to one where you know where you’re shooting.

Game staffers admit one of the hardest games to win at is the milk pyramid. We talked to a guy who says he sank $100 into it before he won.

The tubes of fun are actually fun. I won on those even though most people say they pop back out.

The big question: Is it worth the repeat attempts for these awesome stuffed prizes? Most people say they are having a blast.
