Assault Suspect Taken Into Custody

corey villaEUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene man is in jail after a Swat team and dozens of police officers swarmed a neighborhood near Autzen Stadium Saturday night. That man was wanted for a violent crime.

Eugene Police said Corey Villa assaulted a man Saturday afternoon in the Echo Hollow area. Hours later police received a tip that Villa was at an apartment on McKenna Drive in the Kinsrow area. Police then surrounded the building and shut down a section of Kinsrow as they tried to take Villa into custody.

He wouldn’t come out, so they brought in a Swat team and Crisis Negotiation Team who eventually talked him out of the apartment.

“And of course a felony assault suspect is potentially very dangerous, so we want to have enough people there to apprehend him safely. Keep residents safe and all those types of things,” said Lt. Scott Fellman, Eugene Police Department.

Villa is lodged in the Lane County Jail facing felony assault two charges. A woman, Jessica Morales, was also taken into custody for conspiracy to commit assault.

And don’t forget that voters and Lane County Commissioners think the same thing.. that is why he will be released from jail, 10 minutes after getting there.
