At-Risk Teens Help the Community

EUGENE, Ore. — Some at-risk teens had the chance to get a little fresh air Thursday while helping their community.

Teens and young adults spent the day cleaning up a few local parks and waterways.

It’s all part of a program operated by the Looking Glass Riverfront School, and the participants have a great time while they work.

“We get to go out to all these interesting places we’ve never been and clean up our community, which is really nice because we like to have a family-friendly environment that we know is safe,” said Andrea Carbaja.

Teens also earn minimum wage while on the job, while learning valuable work skills.
