Attempted Murder Charges Dismissed

Michael EstradaCORVALLIS, Ore. — The Benton County District Attorney’s Office is dismissing attempted murder charges against a Corvallis man.

Corvallis Police arrested 35-year-old Michael Estrada in December, after officers say he planned to kill his ex-girlfriend and one of her male friends.

The state filed a motion to dismiss charges on April 3, saying further investigation is needed.

He was originally facing ten counts: two counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempted assault in the first degree, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, coercion, menacing, initiating a false report, and improper use of 911 emergency reporting system.

Court records show that Estrada was convicted of sex abuse in the first degree in June 2006.
