Biography

Erik joined KEZI 9 News as a Sports Reporter/Anchor in August 2011, from Albany, NY where he was the radio play-by-play voice for the Tri-City ValleyCats (Single-A, Houston Astros), and UAlbany football and men’s basketball. He also freelanced as a play-by-play commentator for various Time Warner Cable Sports television productions. Erik graduated from Syracuse University in May 2010, with a dual degree in Sport Management and Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While at Syracuse, Erik was a radio play-by-play announcer and sports reporter for WAER and WJPZ, covering Syracuse University Athletics and local high school sports. He was also a television anchor at CitrusTV, SU’s student-run station. Erik also spent five weeks in Vancouver his senior year, interning for NBC Olympics during the XXI Winter Olympic Games. After his final semester, Erik spent a summer working at ESPN in the Talent Planning & Development Department. Erik is excited to call Western Oregon his new home and cover two Pac-12 schools on a regular basis. Born in New Jersey, and a native of Albany, NY, he is a die-hard New York Rangers, Giants, and Mets fan, who is also an avid skier. Anything Syracuse Orange is also a given.
