Backpack Drive Looking for Donations

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — KEZI 9 News and the Oregon Community Credit Union is still looking for more backpacks and school supplies for kids in Eugene and Springfield.

It’s all part of the “Backpacks for Back-to-School” campaign.

You can make donations at any Oregon Community Credit Union or St. Vincent de Paul stores in Eugene and Springfield.

Organizers said the donations received so far have been great but they still need help. They’re asking for supplies or cash donations.

“People have been very generous so far but there’s a growing need every year. We see more and more kids who need help with back to school supplies so we need more help. We need more donations of money, and we need more donations of supplies,” said Cherie Kistner, spokesperson for Oregon Community Credit Union.

They’re collecting donations until the end of this month.

How exactly do they determine what kids ( parents) need the help? That is my question.
Is it going to be like the back pack/shoe giveaway that was going on at Willamette High and a few other places, Some Parents did not even know about this until watching it on the news and is those SAME parents going to try and get some of these back packs with supply’s in them also.
These are just some of the questions that I need answers to.
