Backpacks for Back-to-School Drive

EUGENE, Ore. – KEZI 9 News and Oregon Community Credit Union kicked off the annual Backpacks for Back-to-School drive, Monday.

Last year, more than 2,000 kids in the community received backpacks and school supplies through this event.

Mayor Kitty Piercy and Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg attended the kickoff event at the Bi-Mart on 18th Avenue and Chambers Road.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s back to school time, but one of the important things we have to do in our community is to make sure every child is ready to go back to school,” said Mayor Piercy.

“This project fulfills that need, to be sure that all of our children go to school on an equal basis and have the correct supplies,” said Mayor Lundberg.

Through the entire month of August, supplies and backpacks can be dropped off at any St. Vincent de Paul location or other participating location. Click here for a complete list of drop-off locations.
