Ballot Measures to Help Parks, Police

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield voters will decide this November whether Willamalane Park and Recreation and/or Springfield Police will receive additional funding.

Willamalane Park and Recreation District is asking for $20 million over 20 years. If Measure 20-199 passes, proceeds will be used to acquire land for future parks and trails, preserve habitats, improve and renovate existing parks and implement energy conservation project at recreation facilities.

The other measure on the ballot, 20-195 deals with public safety. Springfield Police Chief Jerry Smith was on KEZI 9 News This Morning to explain the nuts and bolts of this tax levy.

For more information on both the recreation and safety measures on the ballot, you can attend a forum Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Willamalane Center.
