Bat Tests Positive for Rabies in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Ore. — The Benton County Health Department wants you to be aware that a bat there tested positive for rabies.

Health workers say make sure your pets are vaccinated against the disease and don’t handle bats with bare hands.

If you get bitten, clean it with soap and water and then go to the doctor or ER.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife says to be on the lookout for animals with convulsions, excessive drooling and with no fear of humans.

Call ODFW at 800-720-ODFW if you see animals like this.
