EUGENE, Ore. — Duck and Beaver fans battled this year in the Eleventh Annual Civil War Blood Drive. More than 8,500 people turned out in the statewide blood drive, which ran from Nov. 1-17.
A total of 4,730 Duck fans donated blood this year, beating the 3,929 Beaver fans that donated; however, the real winner are the patients that will receive the blood.
The blood donated during the Civil War Blood Drive comes at a critical time when there is a decline in donors because of the holidays; the blood collected will help patients well into the holiday season.
