Berg’s Sends First Bus to Mt. Hood

1-15 BERG'S SKI BUSEUGENE, Ore. — The owner of Berg’s Ski and Snowboard Shop in Eugene says they’ve have to make some major adjustments this year, because of the lack of snow.

Willamette Pass has just announced it’s doing a partial opening on Friday, but Berg’s won’t send a bus up there this weekend. Instead, they’re sending a bus to Mt. Hood Meadows for the first time in decades.

Owner, Svein Berg, says the 50 spots on that bus filled up fast.

“We only had one resort open, and people are used to having three resorts open,” says Berg. “So, people kept on asking us, ‘Well can we go someplace else?’ So, we called up Mt. Hood Meadows they said, ‘Please, come up! We haven’t see you guys in 30 years!’”

Berg says snowfall is at about half of what it usually is this time of year. Just the backside of the Willamette Pass is set to open this weekend. Berg says they’ll start sending two or three buses there each weekend, once the full park opens.

Hoodoo says they’re still waiting for more snow, before they open up their slopes.
