Bijou Fundraises to Go Digital

EUGENE, Ore. — Bijou Art Cinemas kicked off its fundraising campaign Friday to finally switch over to digital film.

The owner says the theater is well on its way to its goal of $38,713 to purchase a digital projector.

Donations totaled nearly $8,000 as of Friday afternoon. One of the owners say the conversion is long overdue.

“We’ve held out as long as we could. And I think it worked well for us because we’re getting better prices now and less buggy equipment than we would have if would’ve done the conversion a year ago,” said Edward Schiess, Bijou Art Cinemas owner.

He says they appreciate all of the community support. If you donate at least $250, you get a membership that usually costs $300. There are more rewards the more you donate.
