EUGENE, Ore. — KEZI 9 News is trying to set a record for most tickets sold for the Great Rotary Duck Race presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union. One of the agencies ticket purchases helps is Birth to Three.
The nonprofit will use the money from the duck race to help 90 more families through its Teen Parent Program. The nine-month course teaches teens how to manage the challenges of raising a child while taking care of themselves.
“Ninety-five percent of our parents come out of homes where they were abused or neglected. I would say every single one of them wants to raise their children differently. But if they don’t get some specific skills and ideas and support for that, they really don’t know how,” said Minalee Saks with Birth to Three.
