LOWELL, Ore. — The 19th annual Blackberry Jam Festival opens Friday in Lowell.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at Rolling Rock Park.
On Thursday, preparations were well under way at the local grange. Some festival coordinators have been baking pies for hours for the big contest on Sunday night.
“For Lowell, this is the biggest thing that happens all year. It incorporates so much of the community, and everybody gets involved so. And it’s a three-day event, so there’s a lot going on,” said Pam Bauman, Craft Vendor Coordinator.
There’s a pie eating contest and a pie baking contest. Plus there’s a parade, music and all kinds of events for kids. Admission is free.
