EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane Blood Center set up at the Veterans Memorial Association Building on Willamette Street for the first time this Memorial Day.
Blood donors who showed up were able to dedicate their donation to a veteran.
Participants signed a poster before giving blood in memory of a family member or friend in the Armed Forces.
“One gentleman today is donating in memory of his grandfather, and one gal is here donating because her nephew is in Afghanistan right now,” said Lori Abeyta of the Lane Blood Center.
The signed poster will hand in the hall at the Veterans Memorial Association Building as a thank you from all those who donated blood on the holiday.
