UPDATE: Police say the body found face down in the Eugene Millrace is a man in his 40s to 50s. They haven’t released the man’s identity. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Police says a body was found face down in the Millrace, the small waterway that cuts through Eugene near the University of Oregon.
Police say they received a call that someone saw the body floating near Patterson Road and 11th Avenue. Officers responded to find the body about five feet from the shore. They say there was no obvious signs of foul play.
“There were no witnesses. We don’t have any reports of a disturbance, a fight. It was just a passerby that happened to see what they thought was a body floating in the water,” said Lt. Eric Klinko, Eugene Police Department.
The Medical examiner was called in to continue the investigation.
