VIDA, Ore. — The Lane County Sheriff’s Office pulled the body of a 60-year-old woman from the McKenzie River Monday, after her car went in the water near Vida.

Deputies responded to the scene after passersby reported that a car was submerged in the water. Witnesses say they saw the vehicle in the water, then shortly after saw a body floating downstream.

The victim was identified as Beverly Fry-Haddon, 60, of Vida. She was taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are trying to determine how her car ended up in the river.
