Bomb Threat Suspect in Court

CORVALLIS, Ore. — There was a court hearing Tuesday for the student charged with building bombs and planning an attack on West Albany High School.

Seventeen-year-old Grant Acord’s court appointed attorney appeared on his behalf.

During the procedural hearing, she and the chief deputy district attorney scheduled Acord’s next hearing for July 16.

Police arrested Acord in May month after receiving a tip that he planned to blow up the school. Investigators found six homemade bombs in his bedroom, as well as detailed plans to allegedly carry out the attack.

Acord is behind bars at the Linn-Benton Detention Center on $2 million bail.
