EUGENE, Ore. — Book lovers flocked to the Lane Events Center over the weekend to get their hands on thousands of affordable used books.
Friends of the Library, an organization devoted to supporting literacy programs, held its 35th annual book sale to benefit the Eugene Public Library.
The Lane Events Center Performance Hall was filled with over 80,000 books, and drew more than 3,000 people throughout the weekend according to event staff.
Organizers said they’re grateful that the community is so eager to help fund their efforts to support reading programs in the area.
“I think we have a lot of book lovers in the Eugene community, and many who love the library. And I hope many of them know that the money does go to the library,” said sale co-chair Sandy Ludeman.
Event organizers say the funds raised at the book sale will go toward children’s literacy programs at local libraries.
