EUGENE, Ore. — A local Boy Scout troop wants to help you get rid of your Christmas tree in the greenest way possible.
Troop 182 began its Christmas tree recycling program Wednesday.
The Scouts will cover Eugene, Springfield, Veneta, Harrisburg and Junction City all the way through Jan. 20.
“They call us and then we basically just put it on our calendar and then we give it to one of our scout groups, and then the Scout group goes and picks it up. It’s just a lot of fun for us,” said Troop 182 member Jared Roe.
The troop says it asks for a minimum donation of $8. The proceeds will help pay for summer camp.
To recycle your Christmas tree, call the local Boy Scout office at 541-485-4433.
