EUGENE, Ore. — From the Super Bowl stage to Matthew Knight Arena—Bruno Mars is in Eugene Monday night and a big crowd is expected around the university area.
The CEO of Growler University, which is across the street from Matt Knight Arena, says for Tom Petty last week, they saw a huge crowd and for Bruno Mars, they’re expecting the same, if not, more.
Dan White says they’re expecting the crowd to be about eight times what they normally see. They’ve set up extra seating to accommodate about 250 people, along with a new outdoor patio just completed on Saturday.
This is the second big event at Matt Knight Arena in two weeks and White says it’s great for business.
“It brings people to the area that were never here. I had conversations last week during the Tom Petty concert with people from northern California, all over Oregon, Washington, as far away as Idaho,” said White.
Next door, the Wild Duck Cafe is also setting up extra seating inside and out.
Business owners say the effects of these events last much longer than just Monday tonight because it puts them on the map for people.
