JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — The Soroptimist International group of Junction City is doing what it can to help out its schools in need.
The group is made up of women. It focuses on work with women and children.
Last year members started a lunch program called Bunches of Lunches, to provide food to children at Laurel Elementary School who may not have enough to eat over the weekend.
“Quietly helping children is how I like to describe the program. We’re not out and flashy. There’s a need. Kids are there so there’s no stigma attached,” said Angie Elstone, Laurel Elementary School Counselor.
Staff members say the kids are all excited when the end of the week rolls around. The program starts back up on Friday.
