Businesses Concerned After Shooting

ALBERTSONS SHOOTINGEUGENE, Ore. — Police say the suspect in an attempted robbery of an armored truck in Eugene, 28-year-old Sam White of Salem, is still in the hospital but was arraigned Monday on robbery charges.

Police say an armed guard shot White just outside the Albertson’s store on Division Avenue around 3:45 p.m.

Businesses in the same shopping center as Albertson’s says it’s concerning to see something like this happen, but they think the guard handled the situation correctly.

“There are a lot of families, and that’s what concerns me the most. I don’t know how people can be as careless as to try and do something in the middle of the day with all the families and stuff around. But honestly, I think the guy did what he had to do to help get out of the situation,” said Chris Morse, Oak Grove Guns employee.

The suspect arrived at the hospital in critical condition, but has been upgraded to stable.
