Businesses Happy to See Students

EUGENE, Ore. — Winter break is over and university students are trickling back into town.

Businesses along 13th and Alder say they’re excited to see the students return.

Owner of McKenzie Outfitters says during winter break, she also took a couple weeks off.

Besides the big corporate retailers like American Apparel and Starbucks, she says most of the stores were either shut down or adjusted their hours because there’s little to no foot traffic.

But today, McKenzie Outfitters is already seeing some business.

“I’m excited. I just sold a rain jacket. I’ve sold five pairs of gloves. They need me and that’s why I’m here and I’m welcoming them back this new year,” said Renelle Reese, owner of McKenzie Outfitters.

Students had about a month break from classes.
