Cal Beats Ducks For 12th Straight Time

EUGENE — California beat #17 Oregon 96-83 on Thursday night, the 12th straight time that the Bears have beaten the Ducks.

The loss was Oregon’s second straight this season, dropping its record to 13-2 overall, 1-2 in the Pac-12. California’s head coach, Mike Montgomery, has beaten the Ducks 15 straight times, a streak that goes back to his time as Stanford’s head coach.

California freshman guard Jordan Matthews scored a career high  32 points – almost 25 more than his previous season average of 7.4 points per game – and Justin Cobbs had 20 points and 11 assists for the Bears (11-4, 2-0).

Joseph Young had 29 points to lead the Ducks.

Oregon plays Stanford at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Matt Knight Arena.
