COBURG, Ore. — The new Camping World in Coburg has a new, giant symbol of American pride waving above its store.
The flag measures 40 by 80 feet. It took more than 20 men just to unfold the flag and carry it to the 130-foot pole.
The giant flag is part of the company’s national initiative to fly massive flags at its various super-stores around America to honor veterans.
There were a few dozen people out there as the flag went up, including about 15 veterans who showed up to lend a hand.
General Manager Jeff Paul says he’s proud his store was selected to fly one of the massive flags.
“My dad was a veteran. I’ve got family members who are veterans, so it brings warm feelings to my heart when I look at the flags and see them, especially of this magnitude. It brings out feelings for everybody,” Paul said.
Paul says they plan on flying the flag year round with the proper flag etiquette, which is why they already have lights up to keep it lit up overnight. Permanent lights will go in soon.
Camping World held its soft opening on Jan. 30, and its grand opening is scheduled for April 4-13.
