EUGENE, Ore. — It has a long history, and it’s overdue for a makeover.
For the first time in 30 years, the 94-year-old University of Oregon book store is being remodeled.
Work began Wednesday, making it easier to navigate Duck gear, student supplies and an updated café with faster service, better traffic flow and more seating.
In addition, students will have better, quicker access to textbooks on the second floor.
“Obviously, it’s going to be a show stopper. It will look great, but we’re really excited about enhancing the customer shopping experience both on the book floor, the book flow, and especially on the main floor where we do apparel and coffee,” said Arlyn Schaufler, general manager of The Duck Store.
The project will be done in three stages and completed by mid-September.
The store will remain open the entire time, and all work will be done at night.
