EUGENE, Ore. — The American Cancer Society kicked off its Cancer Prevention Study-3 campaign in the Eugene-Springfield area, Wednesday.
It’s the first time in the Pacific Northwest was invited to take part in a long-term study to better understand what’s causing cancer and what prevents it.
Anyone between the ages of 30-65 years old and who’s never been diagnosed with cancer can participate.
Participants will basically have to fill out a questionnaire every couple years.
“The good news is we are already halfway there; so we are coming in at 312 participants, which makes us very excited but there is room for more,” said Pat Cookson, American Cancer Society representative.
The American Cancer Society’s goal is 600 participants, but local organizers are hoping to double that.
