SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Eugene and Springfield Police responded to calls of a vehicle crash into a building Wednesday.

Police say around 4 a.m. a car veered off the road and crashed into the Head Start of Lane County building at Pioneer Parkway Way and B Street.

Neighbors heard a woman screaming and called police. Police found the woman trapped under the car.

“The way she was trapped was so precarious, we had to be very careful in lifting the car and moving it away from the building to keep from further injuring her,” said Springfield Fire Battalion Chief Dana Burwell.

The driver was transported to the hospital, but the extent of her injury was unknown. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
