EUGENE, Ore. — Workers at a Jambo World Crafts spent Saturday afternoon cleaning up damage after a car plowed into the storefront Friday night. It’s located just a few blocks from the University of Oregon near 13th and Alder.
Friday night a woman drove right through the front of the store destroying clothing, glass fixtures, and other store merchandise. Broken glass covered the store floor Saturday.
At the time of the crash there was one worker inside the store, but she was in the back of the building when the crash occurred, so she was not injured.
The store owner says this time of the year is a slow one for stores on this block since students are on vacation, so no one was on the sidewalk in front of the store or inside during the crash.
“We’re trying to just sift through the junk to find out what’s salvageable and make a list for the insurance company, we have a lot of damage to the fixtures,” said Carol Pike, owner of Jambo World Crafts.
While assessing the damage, Pike said it’s a miracle no one was injured in this crash.
Pike is unsure how long Jambo World Crafts will be closed, but she said it will be closed for quite a while due to the amount of damage.
