EUGENE, Ore. — Police are investigating what happened in the moments right before a car hit a man in a motorized wheelchair in south Eugene.
Witnesses say the car hit the wheelchair at a high speed Thursday night at the intersection of 30th Avenue and University Street.
The Major Collision Team was out at the scene late trying to figure out what happened.
Emergency crews took the victim–a man in his mid-50s–to the hospital with serious injuries. He has several broken bones.
Witnesses claim the wheelchair was stopped in the road. However, police couldn’t confirm that.
Officers are evaluating the driver of the car because she may have been under the influence of intoxicants.
