Car Tumbles into River, Woman Escapes


6-2 Umpqua CrashROSEBURG, Ore. — A woman escaped her car after it tumbled 30 feet down an embankment and landed upside down in the Umpqua River.

The crash was about 7:30 Monday morning, on the 1200 block of Melqua Road.

Rescue crews say the car went over the edge and ended up submerged in the river. The driver managed to escape with non-life threatening injuries.

A hazard team had to be called in to clean up fuel that spilled into the river because of the crash.
