SAN FRANCISCO – Casey Martin shot +5 in the second round of the U.S. Open, finishing +9 after two rounds, which was one stroke away from making the cut.
The top 60 players, including ties, make the cut at the U.S. Open, and this year the cut line was at +8.
To put Martin’s score in perspective, the top-ranked played in the world (Luke Donald), this year’s Master’s champion (Bubba Watson), and last year’s U.S. Open champion (Rory McIlroy) all also missed the cut.
